The Student OUR TOWN program encourages more young people to participate in the artistic creative process. Student OUR TOWN is an exhibit of student art from grades K-12 from neighboring communities of The Community House.
Teachers from private and public schools are asked to select and then submit art work for display at The Community House. The artwork from 6th-12th grades is juried and prizes are awarded. All award-winning high school artwork is displayed during the adult OUR TOWN exhibit in October.
This is a unique event in our community. It is often the first time many elementary age children receive recognition for something they have accomplished. It is also fairly unique in that it recognizes artistic achievement as opposed to athletic achievement. Student OUR TOWN is truly a school/community partnership of The Community House and neighboring schools. |
