Center For Dance & Movement

The Center for Dance & Movement’s mission is to provide the community with extraordinary dance instruction and movement practice in a safe, high-quality studio environment.  Our youth dance programs are centered on cultivating a love of learning through the art and fun of dance.  Our adult programs offer enriching dance, fitness, and mindfulness practices open to all skill levels. The Community House's Center for Dance & Movement offers options for all levels, ages, and interests. Students sign up for the classes that appeal to them most and all are welcome to perform in our annual Spring Recital!

Meet our instructorS

Ali Drummond
Director, center for dance & Movement

Ali is a passionate dancer, choreographer, and teacher. Beginning at the age of two, she trained in most styles of dance such as tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary with a heavy focus on ballet technique and pointe work. After attending Eastern Michigan University’s Dance Program, Ali has performed professionally for Fungirl Dance Company and Women’s Work. She has also had pieces of her choreography showcased in The Ypsi Dance Swap, and Collective Sweat Detroit’s annual birthday party. Ali is passionate about creating a safe, upbeat, body positive space for students to learn, dance, and create.



Taryn Henderson 

Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Taryn has been dancing since she was three. She studied ballet, jazz, tap and modern. She graduated from Ohio Northern University with her BFA in Musical Theater. Right after she graduated, Taryn went and worked at Walt Disney World as a Character Attendant. She recently just moved from Columbus, Ohio. She is ready to start teaching and help young students find their passion for dance!
