Director, Programs & Classes (Full-time)

The Community House is looking for a Director, Programs & Classes responsible for the overall general management of Programs and Classes including leadership, strategic planning, and fiscal management. Responsible for developing and implementing innovative, high-quality educational programs, classes, camps, and activities including special events that meet the needs of the community and are in line with the budgeted goals and mission of the organization.

Responsibility

• Responsible for overseeing and achieving annual Programs departmental budget which includes Classes, Summer Camps, Dance and Theatre.
• Analyzes monthly financial results for Programs and adjusts forecast accordingly.
• Analyzes Programs expenses relative to revenue, cost and community interest and impact.
• Responsible for the following functions relative to educational programming:
• Determines community interests and needs; plans educational programs accordingly.
• Plans the overall scheduling of class terms and production schedules.
• Schedules dates, times and sets fees for classes.
• Develops quarterly Programs catalog.
• Plans and organizes mailings and other site distributions of catalogs.
• Oversees student registration and data base operations.
• Develops comprehensive progress reports on all active Programs endeavors and submits to President & CEO each week.
• Researches, plans, budgets, and implements additional/new special programming and events based upon community interest and available resources.
• Evaluates effectiveness of Programs offered consistent with the mission of The Community House.
• Reviews, assesses, and monitors student database management systems for current and future success.
• Oversees Programs staff including the Dance Academy, the Sarah Smith Youth Theater and Summer Camps.
• Ensures staff is properly trained and procedures in place for student database management.
• Plans and implements special events such as the Holiday Brunches and other pop-up events.
• Keeps abreast of other programs offered in the area and assures competitiveness within the field.
• Oversees the administration of nearly 200 program instructor (Independent Contractor) agreements.
• Ensures all department employees and contract staff meet The Community House standards for quality and customer service.
• Identifies, solicits and secures corporate and individual sponsors to underwrite cost of special events and programming.
• Develops and cultivates relationships and partnerships with community, civic and business organizations.
• Conducts 3-4 outside sponsor/partner calls or visits each week.
• Develops promotional material for programs/classes.
• Oversees special programs and class flyers, tickets and other print materials.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate Degree. Graduate Degree a plus.
• 1-3 years education management (schools, camp, extra-curricular education).
• Experience managing a complex staff.
• Non-profit experience desired.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Solid phone and interpersonal skills.
• Strong community relations and networking skills.
• Ability to market the services of The Community House.
• Excellent organization and planning skills.
• Strong project management and analytical skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet required deadlines.
• Ability to handle numerous events simultaneously while maintaining a pleasant receptive demeanor.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to learn internal software programs.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Ability to define problems, to gather relevant facts, and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Strong customer relations and conflict resolution skills.
