Event Sales Manager (Full-time)

We are looking for an upbeat “service-with-a-smile” candidate to join our Event Sales Team!

Leads day-to-day operations related to confirmed meeting and special events scheduled at The Community House. Responsible for preparing all event documentation and coordinates with Hospitality, Logistics, Facilities, and customer to ensure consistent, high-level service throughout pre-event, event and post-event phases. Recognizes opportunities to maximize revenue by up-selling and offering enhancements to create outstanding events with an emphasis on creating long-term, value-based client relationships. Generates new corporate and day-time business by establishing relationships with local businesses and organizations.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities for Event Services:

-Works directly with clients, wedding and meeting planners, gathering necessary information for menu planning, floor plan, room set up, timelines, rental orders, decor, cost and billing details and any other requirements pertinent to their event and assists with those items in a timely manner.
-Analyzes the requirements of the function and decides the type of service necessary; works with published menus, or structures menu proposals, draws up contracts, procures client's signature, and collects necessary deposit and payments.
-Negotiates banquet event orders (BEO) and other event documentation. Identifies and prices customer needs for the event, upselling where possible, and closing the sale with the customer.
-Utilizes independent judgment to coordinate client needs with various departments to ensure maximum profitability and client experience.
-Identifies operational challenges associated with event and determines how to best work with TCH departments/staff and customer to solve these challenges and/or develop alternate solutions.
-Obtains guest feedback on quality and service levels and shares with departments for continuous improvement.
-Conducts scheduled site tours, tastings, meetings and other confirmed client appointments.
-Facilitates weekly BEO meetings and responsible for ensuring all departments are aware and ready for upcoming event needs.
-Supports and executes the company's service and relationship strategy, driving customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience.
-Updates contractual verbiage for BEO, Rental Facility agreements and other necessary client facing communication.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities for Outside Sales:

-Spends minimum one day per week conducting calls and face-to-face meetings with local businesses, organizations, and other prospective clients to establish new business.
-Focuses on selling weekday daytime and evening space as well as off-season and holiday space.
-Maintains accurate records of all sales leads and/or customer contacts summarizing prospect, status, and results. Sends weekly report to Assistant VP, Hospitality.
-Understands overall market - competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends in event management and event design, supply and demand, etc. and knows how to sell against them.
-Attends Chamber meetings, networking events, wedding shows, and trade shows on behalf of TCH to increase sales.
-Manages client information database and updates or assigns email updates for Constant Contact social/corporate events mailing group.


-Minimum of 2 years of event execution experience.
-College Degree preferred but not required.
-Self-starter and able to direct the performance of and motivate staff.
-Demonstrated ability to achieve and exceed sales goals by effectively negotiating and closing business.
-Proven track record of developing long-term client relationships.
-Solid knowledge of sales principles, techniques, industry practices, and prospecting activities common to the hospitality industry.
-Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to express oneself in an articulate and effective manner.
-Effective time management, attention to detail and organizational skills.
-Understanding of events to include food & beverage knowledge.
-Must be available to work nights and weekends based on business demands.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and catering management software such as Caterease and All Seated or equivalent operating software.

Work Schedule

-Works a flexible work schedule which includes evenings and weekends in order to oversee scheduled events.
-Travels off-site for sales meetings, networking events, and trade shows as necessary.
