FACILITIES GENERALIST / BANQUET SET-UP

This is a facilities support position. Responsibilities will include cleaning and maintaining all areas of the building and grounds ensuring rooms, hallways, restrooms, floors, outside terrace, yard, and walkways remain pristine. Position is also responsible for setting up chairs, tables, and linens for events and tearing down equipment following events, seasonal grounds keeping such as watering flowers and shoveling snow, as well as minor repairs and maintenance. Must have evening and weekend availability.  Full-time and part-time positions available.

Responsibility

• Sets up rooms in compliance with established TCH standards, Caterease, and customer input.
• Tears down room set-ups following event in timely manner. Ensures rooms are cleared, cleaned and sanitized according to standards.
• Operates room lights, A/V equipment, and sound systems as required.
• Maintains excellent customer relations with other staff members and general public.
• Maintains physical condition of all areas of the building. Ensures all rooms, hallways, restrooms, and grounds are pristine and in good condition.
• Maintains the cleanliness and presentation of all floors, carpeting, tile, wood, slate and cement.
• Maintains grounds as required by seasonal changes. This includes watering flowers and beds, and keeping sidewalks clean and clear of snow and debris.
• Cleans rooms, hallways, stairs, and restrooms including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing as necessary and according to standards.
• Uses provided checklists to complete projects throughout the house.
• When extra time available, works on deep cleaning projects or consults with Building Superintendent.
• Maintains equipment to peak efficiency; reports malfunctions and possible hazards to the Building Superintendent.
• Maintains Hospitality Operations equipment including chairs, tables, podiums, easels, etc.
• Provides security for the building by doing multiple daily walkthroughs to identify issues.
• Ensures the security and safety of the building by inspecting windows, doors, hallways, etc. during building off-hours and before closing building.
• Ensures rooms are set-up properly and meet the standards of The Community House at all times.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
• Supports the mission of The Community House.

Qualifications

• High school degree preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Self-starter; able to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to organize day to accomplish what needs to be completed by required deadlines.
• Able to operate various types of equipment including boiler, sound system, A/V equipment, vacuum, buffer, snow removal equipment and other power tools as required.
• Computer skills necessary to operate Caterease.
• Able to define problems and recognize solutions.
• Able to deal with and solve minor situations that may result in dissatisfied customers.
• Able to recognize situations requiring management intervention.
• Valid State of Michigan driver’s license.

Physical Demands:
• Job requires standing, sitting, stooping, bending, crawling, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting over 50 pounds.
• Walk to all areas of the building and grounds.
• Operates various types of equipment such as sound system, A/V equipment, power tools; adjusts heating and cooling equipment.

Work Schedule

• Works flexible schedule including days, evenings, and weekends to align with scheduled events at The Community House.
• Occasional overtime required.
